nickel stearate is a metal-organic compound, a salt of nickel and stearic acid with the chemical formula C2H4NiO4. It is used in synthesis of acetylene, ethylbenzene, and butadiene. It is also an intermediate in the preparation of polymers such as styrene, butadiene, and nylon.
Stimuli-responsive cotton fabrics coated with nickel stearate present superhydrophobic and superoleophilic surfaces. These fabrics were fabricated by a facile dip-coating approach with ABC miktoarm star terpolymers, which contain reactive poly(3-triisopropyloxysilylpropylpropyl methacrylate) blocks and hydrophobic poly(dimethylsiloxane) and hydrophilic poly(N,N’-dimethylaminoethylmethacrylamide) блоктар.
